Dr. Matthew Skoblar D.O.
Dr. Matthew Skoblar D.O. is a double board-certified anesthesiologist and Interventional pain specialist at the Jasper Spine Institute in Brick NJ. He completed his anesthesiology residency training at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. He subsequently completed his interventional pain fellowship training at the award-winning University of California Davis Fellowship.
Dr. Skoblar practices using a multidisciplinary (opioid sparing), patient centered, and evidence based approach. He personally evaluates and examines each patient to provide them with a personalized treatment plan. His unique approach helps patients avoid the need for major surgery or opioid medications and helps them to regain function and to achieve a high quality of life. Dr. Skoblar is a spine, joint, and nerve pain specialist, whose expertise includes minimally invasive and non-opioid pain relieving treatments performed under precise image guidance without large incisions or major anesthesia.
Prior to joining Jasper Spine Institute, Dr. Skoblar served as the lead neuromodulation specialist for the academic system of Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. During his tenure, he was often referred patients from other pain specialists, orthopedic joint surgeons, and spine surgeons looking for advanced treatment options. Dr. Skoblar was the only member of the pain department to serve on the multidisciplinary spine conference and helped collaborate on the health system’s most difficult spine surgery cases.
Dr. Skoblar first met Dr. Jasper as a medical student and was impressed with the technologically advanced and minimally invasive options he employed to often help patients feel better the day of surgery. Dr. Jasper’s approach inspired him to learn the newest and least invasive techniques which ultimately culminated in Dr. Skoblar’s partnership with Dr. Jasper to treat pain.
Dr. Skoblar specializes in treating patients with advanced arthritis pain with the use of the newest techniques in radiofrequency ablation (RFA). Using RFA, he has been able to obtain excellent results in the treatment of spinal and joint arthritis. He also specializes in post surgical nerve pain. With the use of dorsal root ganglion stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation, Dr Skoblar is able to more closely treat the root cause of nerve pain rather than masking pain with sedatives or opioid medications.
